Spurs started the second game with Priestley in goal behind Ball and Gardiner with Alex McQueen at right back and Colovic on the left. Lesniak sat in front of them with Lameiras in front of him and Michael-Percil and Ward on either side. Darren McQueen and Akindayini started up front.
It was not clear what the formation was at the start as there was plenty of movement in the midfield with Lesniak dropping to collect and distribute the ball and the other midfielders changing positions a lot. Ward made a couple of runs on the left early on to give the impression that it may have been 4-3-3.
Waregem whipped the ball across the goalmouth on the break before they scored when a diagonal pass found Van Waeyenburghe clear through the middle with only the keeper to beat. Gheeraert fired over and Pauwels also cleared the bar as Spurs showed good approach play in an open game without that final ball.
Van Waeyenburghe got round the back and crossed for Pauwels to drive wide. Without a shot on goal Inglethorpe made his first change at the end of the half replacing Ward with McEneff. No sooner had the change been made than the referee blew to end the half.
Spurs made three changes for the start of the second half with McEvoy coming on for Michael-Percil on the right, Coulthirst replaced Akindayini up front and Smith came on for Lameiras going to left back with Colovic moving forward.
From the off they looked better with Coulthirst drawing a save and then following that with a shot off target. Coulthirst got down the left and crossed for Darren McQueen to slot home only for the linesman to flag for off side.
Leuchi came on quickly and made a chance for De Graeve which Priestley saved at the near post. Leuchi then made space for himself but fired wide. Spurs' pressure finally told when Coulthirst crossed from the left to McEvoy at the far post who put it into the middle where Darren McQueen scored with an overhead kick.
Soon after, Alex McQueen injured himself trying to cut out a cross field ball and could not chase Leuchi when he broke clear to fire over. Alex had to go off leaving Spurs with ten players having used all four subs permitted. McEneff filled in at right back. With time running out and rain beginning to fall Spurs got the winner. Coulthirst got free on the left side of the area and fired in a low drive that hit the near post and went in off the keepers back. Spurs kept pushing for another goal right to the end.
After a first half when Spurs failed to have a shot on goal the shake up for the second half saw chances abound. McEvoy threatened every time he attacked down the right and with Coulthirst behind McQueen breaking on the left, Spurs began to open up the Waregem defence. They looked more like the Spurs of last season. Standard Luik(Liege) drew with FC Utrecht 1-1in the other match
