Come on Spurs! Prove me wrong!

West Ham's quite astounding win at The Etihad Stadium brought an end to City's new record run of 11 consecutive League wins. How did the "Hammers" do it? Basically it was a result of good counter-attacking football, and getting men behind the ball in numbers to excellent effect. It was the same successful method they had deployed at The Emirates and at Anfield. West Ham were also helped by the absence of City's Captain and key defender Vincent Kompany, along with ace David Silva. Sadly for Spurs, both Kompany and Silva could be ready to play tomorrow lunch-time in front of the BT Sport cameras.

Also sadly for Spurs, we haven't recently been a team to successfully defend in numbers against the likes of the the two Manchester teams, Arsenal and Chelsea. It's just not our style. To dare is to do, after all! Despite three consecutive clean sheets, the returning Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen will be sorely tested. The pace of Kyle Walker at right back will no doubt come to Spurs' rescue at times.

City were missing 8 injured players in their Capital One Cup tie at Sunderland, but their starting line-up still read Caballero; Sagna, Demichelis, Otamendi, Kolarov; Toure, Fernando, Navas, De Bruyne, Sterling and Aguero, which was only three changes from their team which faced West Ham. Joe Hart will return in goal, and Spurs' chances will very much depend upon the presence or absence of Kompany and Silva.

Spurs chances will of course also depend upon their own ability to press City and the goalkeeper. Last Sunday, at home against Palace we were guilty of not getting enough shots on target. Son has looked bright and will no doubt start, but, as I have written elsewhere, we are not looking like a side with goals in our feet at present. We've scored 5 goals in 6 league games so far, and have five players sharing the position of top scorer. Harry Kane is still excluded from our list of scorers.

Next to Everton (82) and Aston Villa (69), City are still the team against whom we have gained most Premier League points (65). Sunderland are next on 62, but we have only played them 29 times in the Premier League, whereas we have played City 7 more times.

We have lost our last four games against City, and won only one of the last 10 meetings.

Last season's home match, played in May was a good performance by Spurs, but that man Aguero scored the only goal of the game. The scoreline was therefore a lot more respectable than the preceding three games (0-6, 1-5 and 1-4), and that was with Hugo Lloris in goal too.

The headline is a result of my comment after Wednesday night's Arsenal defeat, when I bemoaned the "resting" of Lloris and the whole back four for that match, stating that "we had no chance of beating Man City on Saturday". So, I desperately want my team to prove me wrong, but I'll own up to predicting a 2-1 defeat (not as bad as some scores recently then).

I do think we will put up a good show, and I even have faith in Hugo Lloris, because I haven't transferred him out of my fantasy team! Ryan Mason and Mousa Dembele "weren't ready" for Wednesday, and they are still not available tomorrow. Certainly the ever-present and perhaps tiring Eric Dier will need re-inforcement, and it doesn't look as if we have that commodity currently available.

Erik Lamela was completely absent on Wednesday. Will there be a role for him tomorrow? Remember, the goal against Palace was started when Lamela battled for and won the ball just outside his own area, before sending Eriksen forward. I suspect that Pochettino will opt for the experience of Eriksen ahead of Alli. Son and Kane surely pick themselves, and Chadli will probably start on the left.

Tomorrow's match referee is Mark Clattenburg. We haven't had too many gripes about him in the last year or two, and even though the last time we saw him in the middle was in a horrible 3-0 defeat at Stoke (also in May), it wasn't his fault. Over five years of Spurs Odyssey records, Mr. Clattenburg averages very nearly 6 out of 10, which is a good mark for any referee from Spurs fans!
