It's winter! Let's have a 4x4!

Mark Hughes will bring his Stoke side to Wembley tomorrrow desperate to end a run of no less than three consecutive 4-0 defeats to Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs. The run started in April 2015 when both Harry Kane and Dele Alli scored two, and ecstatic Spurs fans chanted "Leicester City - we're coming for you!". Sadly, our somewhat slim hopes of a Premier League title were blown away in our next two games which were a home draw and the "Battle of Stamford Bridge", which has been in the news again this week with Mark Clattenburg's recent comments.

Last season, we repeated the four goal dosage not once, but twice. In September last year Harry and Dele scored again, but Son Heung-min got a brace as we romped again to a 4-0 away win. Harry Kane's goal then was his first off the season and his fiftieth Premier League goal. Now he has 88 to his name - all for Spurs of course - and this week was named as the World's 10th best player in the Ballon D'Or ceremony. Only Chelsea's Kante finished above Harry from the Premier League.

In February this year Spurs beat Stoke 4-0 for the third game in a row. Harry scored three. Dele got one. They've both got a good record against "The Potters". In fact they've both been wizards! It was Harry's third hat-trick of the year, and made him the first Spurs player to score 20 or more goals in three consecutive seasons since Falco, Chivers and Greaves before him.

Stoke have been un-encumbered by European football for 6 years. On that occasion they got aa place in the Europa League for losing the FA Cup Final. That option has gone these days. Stoke were knocked out of the League Cup in September by Bristol City, so their focus has been purely upon the Premier League. They suffered big defeats at home to Chelsea (4-0) and away to rampant Man City (7-2), and a home set back against Bournemouth left them flirting with the relegation zone. Currently they are in 16th place, 6 points clear of the bottom three, and they have gained three more points than we have over the last 6 games, having achieved better results than we did away to Watford and against Leicester, who they played at home getting a draw.

Kevin Wimmer, who we sold to Stoke in the summer, came off the bench to replace Toby Alderweireld in the February game which we won. Wimmer has made 8 Premier League starts for Stoke, and last week came off the bench in the second half. Stoke have only managed one clean sheet in the games he has played. Another former Spur, Peter Crouch, signed a new contract recently and has started Stoke's last two games, without scoring. He's done better coming off the bench, scoring three league goals. Both players will get a warm reception from home fans tomorrow. Crouchy is fondly remembered for his part in getting us into the Champions League for the first time with that winner at Man City in May 2010; for scoring the hat-trick against Young Boys which got us through the play-offs, and especially for the winning goal in the San Siro against Milan. They were heady days indeed, and Peter has the record of most headed goals in the Premier League.

Another of Mark Hughes' summer signings was Bruno Martins-Indi, who was on loan last season from Porto. Martins-Indi went off last week with a groin strain and was replaced by Wimmer, and will not be available tomorrow. Mame Diouf and Xherdan Shaqiri share Premier League scoring honours with four goals apiece, with anotheer summer signing Eric Choupo-Moting chipping in with three goals. Former Man Utd man Darren Fletcher was a good acquisition from West Brom (where he has probably been missed this season) and has been ever-present in league games for Stoke. Jack Butland continues in good form and will carry on pressing his claims for a place in England's World Cup squad to go to Russia.

Most of the Spurs team will be fresh too, despite our midweek Champions League game. Our man of the match against APOEL was Son Heung-min, who went off early, and can be expected to be part of the attacking three behind Harry Kane tomorrow. The other two are likely to be Dele and Eriksen, although I'd like to see Lamela involved. Mauricio Pochettino's selection problem will be who to choose at the back and in what formation, due to Davcinson Sanchez's three match suspension. I'll go for a back three of Foyth, Dier and Vertonghen, with Trippier and Davies at wing-back.

I don't think we will see four goals tomorrow, but I have to go for a Spurs win - perhaps 2-0.

Match referee Roger East is another who we will see for the first time this season. This will be only his seventh Premier Leagaue game of the season in the middle, and we haven't seen him since our FA Cup game against Wycombe which we won 4-3 with a last minute goal by Son Heung-min.
