Spurs need to regain third place!

The Cockerel stands proudly over New White Hart Lane!

Here's a funny thought. The Premier League form of relegated Huddersfield Town almost matches that of Spurs over the last six games! Both have won just one of their last six. Spurs won their last against Crystal Palace. The "Terriers" won the first of that sequence - at home to Wolves. One of the anomalies of this season for the Yorkshire side is that they have won just three games, and two of those were at home and away against a Wolves side that is chasing seventh place and possible qualification for Europe, and who just missed out on a first FA Cup Final in 59 years.

Spurs will be desperate to continue their run-in with a second consecutive win, and to regain third place after Chelsea overtook them with their Monday night win against West Ham. With Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday, Spurs have a good chance of taking hold of third whatever Manchester United and Arsenal do in their games this weekend. United are at home to West Ham whilst Arsenal visit Cup Finalists Watford on Monday night.

You might think the result of this match is a certainty (are they ever?), but of course there are all sorts of markets available on this and other games (and sports) at bettingbonuscode.com such as number of goals, first scorer and more. Why not check out this week's offers?

Spurs have won all three Premier League games we have played against Huddersfield, scoring 8 goals in the process with Harry Kane getting 4 of those, all in the two away fixtures. When we played at The John Smith Stadium in September 2017, Harry was applauded off by the home fans when he was substituted. It was Son who scored our goals in last year's home game at Wembley. Huddersfield were familiar with the national stadium because they won their play-off final there in 2017 against Reading. Their first visit to our brand spanking new stadium will offer an incentive to them to make a quick return to the top flight.

We know now that Harry Kane is not likely to play again before next season, due to his ankle ligament injury sustained in our Champions League win against Manchester City on Tuesday night. That is a blow, of course, but we have managed good form and good win ratios without Harry in previous absences, especially with Son Heung-min in good form. Dele Alli also suffered an injury on Tuesday. That was a fracture in his hand, and he will be assessed before tomorrow's game. Mauricio Pochettino is going to have to balance his selection for this game against the needs of next Wednesday's Champions League decider at The Etihad. I think that wheoever plays tomorrow for Spurs will be part of a team that will win the game 3-0.

It looks as if we have a true sell-out for this game and so far we have won both our games in the new White Hart Lane, with two clean sheets. Huddersfield have managed 19 Premier League goals all season. Three of those were scored in one game last month against West Ham, but they still lost. The only away game they won was that Wolves match in November. They have scored more goals away (11) than at home (8), but surely they will not bother the scorers tomorrow.

Huddersfield midfielder Alex Pritchard is 25 now (26 on May 3rd) and signed for "The Terriers" in January last year from Norwich. Since then, Alex has played in 41 Premier League games for Huddersfield, starting 36 of those. He has scored two league goals and played against Spurs at Wembley last March and at The John Smith Stadium in September. Spurs got good money for Alex when he was sold to Norwich in the summer of 2016. His last appearance for Spurs was as substitute in a home game against Everton in August 2015. In fact his only other first team appearance was as substitute at the end of the 2013-14 season. Alex had a very successful season with Brentford on loan from Spurs in 2014-15, and then scored 7 goals in 28 league games with Norwich.

Lee Mason is our match referee. He has never been popular with Spurs fans, and we've only seen him 13 times in the last 9 years. In April 2010, Mr. Mason awarded Sunderland no less than three penalties, two of which were saved by Heurelho Gomes, although we still lost that game. Mr Mason awarded 5 penalties against Spurs in his first five games in charge of us. This season the only time we saw him was when we played Watford at Milton Keynes in the Carabao Cup, when he awarded us a penalty! Mr Mason has had charge of 16 Premier League games this season, none of which could be described as high profile.

· "It was Twenty Years ago today!" - On April 11th 1999, we played Newcastle at old Trafford in the FA Cup semi-final. We lost in extra time to two Alan Shearer goals.
