We live in hope. It is a virtue, after all!

Saint Paul told us in Corinthians of the three virtues - faith, hope and charity. Those Spurs fans travelling to Anfield year after year have two of those qualities to the full - faith in their team, and hope of success. Sadly, at this venue, we see too much charity towards the hosts, and I fear another case of "it's the hope that kills you."

Many of those fans were inconvenienced by the date of this fixture being changed after some had made their travel and accommodation plans for a game being played 200 miles from home.

Liverpool and their star signings - Bradley Barcola from PSG, Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes and Victor Munoz from Osasuna are still settling in. That must also be said about new coach Andoni Iraola, who had so much success at Bournemouth. Whilst unbeaten this season, Liverpool were held to a 0-0 home draw by Fulham on Saturday. Last week, "The Reds" beat Atletico Madrid (featuring our former captain) 2-1 in the Champions League.

For Spurs, this is as fearful a venue as ever. Tomorrow's game kicks off at 8pm, and is live on both SKY and ITV.

The last time we met Liverpool in this competition was not a happy occasion. It was in February last year in the second leg of the semi-finals. We had won the first leg 1-0 thanks to 18-year-old Lucas Bergvall's first club goal.

Liverpool were aggrieved because they felt Bergvall should have been sent off for a second yellow card just before he scored. Antonin Kinsky made his club debut in that game, having been signed on 5th January. Dejan Kulusevski took on the captain's armband that day, after Son had been replaced by Timo Werner.

Liverpool extracted full revenge with goals by Gakpo, Salah (pen), Szoboszlai and Van Dijk. In all, we played "The Reds" four times in the 24/25 season, and they put 15 goals past us.

We rarely win at Anfield. The last time was in May 2011, thanks to Rafa van der Vaart and Luka Modric. With regards to the League Cup, I prefer to think of our 4th Round 3-1 win at Anfield in November 1998, when we went on to win the trophy. Steffen Iversen, former Liverpool centre-back John Scales and Allan Nielsen were our scorers.

We also reached the final in 2009 after beating Liverpool 4-2 at White Hart Lane in November 2008. In 2008, with Harry Redknapp at the helm, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Manchester United loanee Fraizer Campbell both scored twice. Remember that season we had also started badly (two points from eight games), so maybe there is some sort of omen there. I used the headline "Fraizer smokin' - Liverpool in clay" for that report!

Anfield bade a fond farewell on the last day of last season to both Mo Salah and Andy Robertson. Robertson had been linked with Spurs in January. He was a Liverpool veteran of 9 seasons, which included two Premier League titles, a Champions League and Super Cup plus one FA Cup and two league cups.

Spurs' signing of Andy Robertson on a free transfer at the end of his Liverpool contract was confirmed on 5th June. After joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017, Robertson played 378 times for the club and won two Premier League titles and the Champions League. He also won the League Cup twice as well as the FA Cup, has won 97 caps for Scotland who he led in this summer's World Cup.

The last Liverpool player to sign directly on transfer from Anfield to Spurs was Robbie Keane in February 2009. Robbie had gone from Spurs to Liverpool, in the previous July.

In previous Premier League years we signed Paul Stewart, Neil Ruddock, Ronny Rosenthal, John Scales, Oyvind Leonhardsen, Christian Ziege and Jamie Redknapp. Ray Clemence signed for us in August, 1981 and Paul Walsh in February, 1988.

If selected, Andy is assured of a great reception from the Anfield crowd. The team news is that Udogie is available, but not Pedro Porro (or Kulusevski). Sandro Tonali will miss this game due to a "knock".

Kevin Keegan, who died in July, aged 75, was an iconic Liverpool footballer in the 70s, remembered for his partnership with John Toshack before he went to Hamburg in 1977. In that summer, Liverpool signed another icon - Kenny Dalglish.

Keegan's first football league game was for Scunthorpe against Peterborough on 16th September, 1968. His last was for Newcastle in May 1984 at home to Brighton, when he scored. After that game, Keegan was whisked away in full Newcastle by helicopter in front of 36,000 adoring fans.

Keegan won three league titles, three European trophies and an FA Cup with Liverpool. The FA Cup win was a 3-0 over Newcastle, when Kevin scored twice.

10 years ago, we played our third round League Cup game at home to Gillingham on 21st September, and won 5-0. Our goals came from Christian Eriksen (2), Vincent Janssen (penalty), Josh Onomah and Erik Lamela. Janssen scored the first of only 6 goals for the club.

Onamah was a product of our academy and scored his solitary goal for us in 29 appearances, most of which were as a substitute. Josh had loans at Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday before leaving us for Fulham, where he spent nearly three and a half years. He spent nine months without a club before signing for Dinamo Tbilisi in Georgia in March this year. He hasn't played since June.

Andy Madley is in charge of Spurs for the (lucky?) 13th time. He was our referee in last year's third round game when we beat Doncaster 3-0. None of the goalscorers (Palhinha, McGrath (o.g.), or Johnson) are available to us here!
