Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2014-2015 - Match 35

"Caught out defensively yet again. The story of the season."

For the second time in his last three games, Danny Rose was voted man of the match (for Spurs) by Spurs Odyssey voters. The other full back, Eric Dier, followed up his man of the match against Southampton with another impressive performance, making him our second best player on the day, according to the average of the 170+ votes I received.

There was a mixed bag of comments, both via the survey and the Spurs Odyssey message board. Many responses suggested that my match report was more positive than their perception. I take no pleasure in correctly predicting the result, but at least this time, we made a game of it against City, who beat us for the fourth consecutive time, and for the eighth time in 9 games.

Here are a few of the comments received this week:-

"Bright up-tempo start which should have brought goals. Caught out defensively yet again. The story of the season. Tired as the game went on. No stand out performances apart from maybe Danny Rose whilst Lamela looked promising and worked hard."

"Doesn't seem to matter how many chances we create, how much possession we have, until Kane gets some support we are not good enough for a top 4 finish"

"Dier outstanding defending and going forward, despite often being left exposed. Eriksen very poor, but probably Lamela's best game in a Spurs shirt."

"Kane well marked out of the game. Paulinho probably made the biggest impact with two near misses in his brief spell on the pitch."

"Kane was marked out of the game and at this stage of his development, he was unable to free himself of the shackles which followed him all over the pitch."

"Same settled team which has run out of ideas. Eriksen looked totally lost so the entire team suffered."
