Thanks to Declan Mulcahy for some of the information provided here:-

Spurs have now conceded two goals in each of the last four matches and the last three Premier league games.

When did either of these events last happen?

Two goals in three consecutive PL matches

May 2016
Chelsea (a) 2-2
Southampton (h) 1-2
Newcastle U (a) 1-5

Two goals in four consecutive matches

February/March 2015
West Ham (h) PL 2-2
Fiorentina (a) EL 0-2
Chelsea (n) LCF 0-2
Swansea City (h) PL 3-2

Both events have happened more recently than I would have thought. This time around the results have been better winning three out of four matches.

This will be our eleventh Premier League match against Burnley. We won the first of our meetings at this level 5-0 in September 2009, when Robbie Keane scored 4 of our goals. The other was scored by Jermaine Jenas. We lost the last time we played Burnley in a game which is all too familiar in our memories. Harry Kane came back from an ankle injury (not for the last time last season) and scored a good goal, but it came between two goals for the home side and was the first of six consecutive away defeats in the Premier League for Spurs. In fact, Spurs, who had such a great away record until this period, won only two of their last 11 away games last season. They both came in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund, and of course the famous 3-2 in Amsterdam!

Thankfully Jose Mourinho gave us an away win in the Premier League at The London Stadium, but sadly couldn't repeat that formula at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

This season, we shall be playing our 99th and 100th league games against Burnley. The first league meeting came in December 1908 when we won 4-2 in front of a crowd estimated at 10,000 at White Hart Lane. Vivian Woodward scored twice. Bobby Steel and Billy Minter also scored. Spurs had won a first round FA Cup tie at The Lane in January 1906 against Burnley, when Woodward also scored one of our two goals.

Over the years, Spurs have had two home wins by seven goal margins over Burnley. Both were home games for Spurs. The first was an 8-1 in September 1930. Billy Cook scored a hat-trick, Willie Davies got one and both Ted Harper and "Taffy" O'Callaghan scored two. George William Cook was born at Evenwood, Bishop Aukland on 2th February, 1895. He was an inside forward and played at Rotherham, Huddersfield and Aston Villa before joining Spurs in 1929. In all he scored 24 goals in 67 league and cup games. Cook's last game for us was in April 1931 at Bristol City. The hat-trick against Burnley was the only one Cook scored for Spurs. Cook moved on to Brentford, then ended his playing days with Colwyn Bay United, where he settled. George Cook died on December 31st 1980, aged 85 years.

The other big Spurs win will be remembered by many current fans. That was also a September game, but in 1968. the score was 7-0 and the brilliant Jimmy Greaves scored a hat-trick. One of Greavsie's goals was a penalty. Cliff Jones (2), Martin Chivers and Jimmy Robertson were the other scorers. Earlier that year, Greaves had scored his 300th league goal (not all for Spurs, of course) in a 5-0 win over Burnley. I well remember being at that game and being one of those giving my all-time hero a lengthy ovation. A month after the 7-0 win Jimmy scored one of his most fantastic goals (part of a hat-trick) against Leicester. He got a long ovation for that goal too!

Aaron Lennon played on Tuesday night in Burnley's 4-1 home defeat by Manchester City. Aaron is now 32, but as ever will get a great reception if seen at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow. It is over 16 years now since 16 year old Lennon made his league debut at White Hart Lane for Leeds. Spurs won that game 2-1! Aaron was part of our Carling Cup winning side in 2008.

Apart from one Carabao Cup game this season (which was an embarrassing 3-1 home defeat by League One Sunderland), it's been Premier League football all the way for Sean Dyche's men. Last year their league form suffered after a failed attempt to reach the Europa League group phase. Incidentally, they lost their play-off tie to Olympiacos. Burnley finished 15th last season, but after their recent consecutive wins against West Ham and Watford they were in the top half above Spurs. They come to Tottenham tomorrow in the bottom half of the table.

Regarding Burnley's Premier League record to date which is shown at the top of this preview, the five wins they have had have come against the teams that are in 13th, 17th, 18, 19th and 20th positions. They have lost against seven of the teams they have played currently in the top ten. The only team in the top ten they have played against and not lost was a draw against Wolves. All league positions are based on the results after Wed 4 December and before Thursday 5 September.

Burnley will be hoping to frustrate us tomorrow. They did that last year, holding out until added time when Christian Eriksen scored our goal. Oliver Skipp made his first start for Spurs, and it was Mauricio Pochettino's 100th league win in 169 games in charge of Spurs.

I haven't seen any team news yet, but I don't expect it to have changed since Tuesday. I think we might see two or three changes. I'd like to see Davinson Sanchez given a breather and to see Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen in the middle. Danny Rose on the left against Lennon would be fun, and perhaps Tanguy Ndombele can start this one. My prediction is to see that clean sheet and a 2-0 win for Spurs!

We haven't seen match referee Kevin Friend in the middle since our 2-1 defeat at Southampton in March. He's been the man in the middle for 10 Premier League games so far this season, the last of which was Southampton v Norwich on Wednesday night.

· "Ten Years After" - Spurs Odyssey reviews the season in which we first qualified for the Champions League. On December 6th 2009 there was high drama at Goodison Park when we drew 2-2.
